Report on Obama’s visit to Ireland by Tom. Rang a Trí

President Barack Obama is the forty-forth President of the United States of America. He came to visit Ireland on 23th May 2011. He arrived in a special plane made for the President of America called ‘Airforce One’. He went to visit our President Mary Mac Aleese in her house ‘Áras na hUachtaráin. Then he had a meeting with Enda Kenny our Taoiseach in Farmleigh House.

His great, great, great grandfather is from a village in Offaly called Moneygall. He visited Moneygall. He went on a special helicopter and some Chinook helicoptors went with him. He shock hands with all the people in Moneygall. He held three babies. He visited his great, great, great, grandfathers homeplace. He went into a shop called “an siopa beag”. and he had a pint of Guinness in the pub. Then he went to College Green in Dublin.

He made a speech to thousands of people. He said “Tá  áthas orm bheith anseo”.  He will stay with President Mary McAlesse tonight and go onto London tomorrow.

We are very happy that he and his wife Michelle came to visit us. He gave us great hope for the future. “Can we do it? Is féidir linn”
